You

You by 'Does Anyone Really Care?'

Sitting alone in the back of the room
You came to me, willingly as a friend
A friend, you were, but so much more
You were the friend, the one I needed

Days, weeks, months - all passed
Deep down, in my heart, I longed
I wanted to know you, be with you
Always thinking of you, hoping for tomorrow

In time, I was able to gather myself
Taking the seconds I had with you
Asking if I could say you were mine
And no answer ever made me happier

The hands of the clock turned
Seemingly slower when you were away
Our next encounter, distracting my mind
Every second with you meant the world

Why it ended, I may never know
But I saw it coming, your feelings in your eyes
You stopped looking at me as you had
As though nothing mattered but me

I still think of you, waiting and wondering
Days now need to be taken one at a time
For me, just being friends may not be possible
When all I can do is stare, loving you
